Notarised translation cost in Türkiye 2026: what a page really costs

"Noter onaylı tercüme" is two services in one: a sworn translator translates and signs, then a notary certifies the translator's signature and the document becomes acceptable to authorities, banks and schools. The two are priced separately, and only one of them is negotiable. This guide sets out the 2026 notarial tariff line by line, explains who may translate, and shows how to count pages before you order.

What the notary charges in 2026

The notarial tariff is set once a year by the Ministry of Justice and published in the Official Gazette; the 2026 tariff appeared on 30.12.2025. For a translation the relevant items are:

  • Çevirme ücreti (translation certification) — ₺667.67 per page.
  • Yazı ücreti (writing fee) — ₺80.68 per page.
  • Tercüme suret harcı — ₺104.00 per page, a state duty under the Harçlar Kanunu collected inside the notary's receipt.

Together that is approximately ₺884 per notarised page, paid by you to the notary against a receipt in your name. The notary cannot charge less and may not charge more; charging below tariff is a disciplinary offence for the notary. A "page" is a page of the translation as formatted by the notary's system, typically up to twenty lines; a dense one-page original can become two tariff pages.

What we do not do. We are not a notary and not a notary's translation office. Notarial certification is performed by a notary at the tariff set by the Ministry of Justice and is paid by you directly to the notary; we receive no remuneration from any notary. Our service is the sworn translation itself, produced by our contracted sworn translators, and the coordination of the notarial step: booking, attending, collecting.

What the translator charges

The translator's fee is a private price and varies by language pair, subject and urgency. Our published rate is ₺700–900 per page for English or Russian into Turkish and ₺850–1,100 for Arabic, Persian or Turkmen, plus ₺400 per notary visit for booking, attending and collecting. Market rates in İstanbul cluster in the same range; a quote far below it usually means the page will be counted differently or the notarial step is not included.

State fees and notarial tariffs are paid by you directly to the state or to the notary; they never pass through us and we receive nothing from any notary. The figures above are the official 2026 tariff, last checked 24.10.2026.

Why the translator is tied to one notary

A sworn translator (yeminli tercüman) is not a nationally licensed profession in Türkiye. Under article 96 of the Noterlik Kanunu Yönetmeliği, a translator swears an oath before a specific notary, and that notary keeps the oath record. Only that notary can certify that translator's signature. In practice this means a translation signed by a translator sworn at Kadıköy 5th Notary cannot be certified at Beşiktaş 12th Notary; it must go back to Kadıköy. When you compare offers, ask which notary the translator is sworn at and whether that office is open on the day you need it.

How to count pages before you order

A standard birth or marriage certificate is one page. A passport identity page is one page. A two-page diploma with a transcript of 60 courses is often four to five tariff pages, because the transcript expands when every course title is translated. A bank statement is the worst case: ten pages of transactions become ten tariff pages, so ask the recipient whether a summary or the first and last page is enough. Send us a scan and we count the pages before the plan, so the figure on the plan is the figure on the receipt.

When notarisation is not needed

Not every recipient needs a notarised translation. Many universities accept a sworn translator's stamped translation without notarial certification; some banks accept an in-house translation for information purposes; the Directorate of Migration Management generally wants notarised translations of foreign civil documents, but not of a bank statement in English. Asking the recipient first can save ₺884 per page. For documents coming from abroad, remember that the apostille must be obtained in the issuing country before translation; see our apostille guide.

Questions

Why did the notary count more pages than my original has?

The tariff counts pages of the translation as laid out by the notary's system, usually up to twenty lines per page, not pages of the original. Transcripts, statements and forms with tables expand. We count the translation pages before you order so the plan matches the receipt.

Can I bring my own translation and just have it certified?

Only if it is signed by a translator sworn at that notary. A translation made abroad or by a friend cannot be certified as a translation; the notary would have one of its sworn translators re-translate or review it, and the full tariff applies.

Is the ₺884 charged per document or per page?

Per page of the translation. A one-page certificate is one page; a diploma with transcript may be four or five. The harç of ₺104, the certification fee of ₺667.67 and the writing fee of ₺80.68 all apply per page.
