The document chain, explained once

Almost every procedure a foreigner faces in Türkiye consumes the same four steps. Which steps your document needs depends on who will receive it.

StepWho performs itWho you payTypical need
1. TranslationOur contracted translator (human; machine draft only as a starting point, never delivered as certified)ROSTUEverything
2. Sworn stamp (yeminli tercüman kaşesi)The same translator, sworn before a notary under Noterlik Kanunu Yönetmeliği art. 96Included in our translation feeSchools, some employers, informal use
3. Notary certificationThe partner notary where our translator is sworn — we book and accompany, you are the notary's clientNotary, at tariff, against receiptGöç İdaresi, trade registry, banks, universities, courts
4. Apostilleİstanbul Valiliği / kaymakamlık (administrative) or adliye (judicial)Nobody — ₺0Documents used outside Türkiye, or foreign documents used here

Important: a notary may only certify a translation by a translator sworn in that notary's own office. This is why "notarised translation" is a coordinated chain and not something we resell, and why we work with specific partner offices rather than "any notary".

What we do

  • Tell you, before you pay, which steps your receiving institution actually requires — and which it does not.
  • Count pages the way the notary counts them, so the notary's receipt matches our quote.
  • Translate with a named human translator; four-eyes check on every page.
  • Book the notary slot, bring the sworn translator, stand with you at the counter.
  • Take the document for apostille and bring it back.
  • Keep a dated copy in your document vault, with consent, so the next procedure starts faster.

What we do not do

  • Collect or mark up the notary's fee, or "include" it in a package. You pay it yourself against the notary's receipt.
  • Promise that an institution will accept a document. Acceptance rules change; we tell you the current rule with its source.
  • Deliver machine translation as a certified document.
  • Translate documents that show signs of alteration. We stop and tell you.
  • Give an opinion on what a document legally means. If you need that, retain a lawyer directly.

Questions

What is the difference between a sworn translation and a notarised translation?

A sworn translation carries the stamp and signature of a translator who has taken an oath before a notary. A notarised translation is that same translation certified by the notary where the translator is sworn. Many institutions accept a sworn stamp alone; Göç İdaresi, universities, banks and the trade registry usually require the notary's certification.

Why do I pay the notary separately?

Because the law requires it. Notarial fees are set by the Ministry of Justice tariff and collected by the notary against a receipt (Law 1512 art. 112 and 118). We are not a notary and may not collect or mark up that fee.

How many pages will my document be?

A page is counted on the translated Turkish text as the notary counts it, not on the original. A passport is typically one page; a one-page birth certificate is one page; a diploma with transcript is usually two to four. We tell you the count before you pay.

How long does it take?

Standard: three business days from receipt of a legible scan to a notarised document in your hand in İstanbul. Same-day on our own work is possible for one or two pages if the notary has a slot; the notary's own timing is not ours to promise.
