Notarised translation in İstanbul — what it really costs in 2026

A passport, birth or marriage certificate, diploma or bank statement translated by a sworn translator and certified by a notary. Two payments: our translation and coordination fee to us, the notary's tariff to the notary. Nothing hidden inside "notary costs".

Notary coordination, 1 visit₺400 → ROSTU
Notary, 2 pages × ≈ ₺884≈ ₺1,768 → notary

Total to notary (receipt in your name)≈ ₺1,768

Compare: offices that quote "₺3,500 all-in, notary included" are charging you about ₺1,750 for what costs ₺1,768 at the counter — and you never see the receipt.

How it works, step by step

1

Send a scan

Every page, including the reverse and any visa or stamp pages the institution needs. We classify the document, count pages the notary's way and flag problems (spelling, expiry, missing apostille).

2

Fixed quote

Four lines, in writing, in your language. You pay our fee by card or transfer. The notary's line is information only — nothing for the notary passes through us.

3

Translation

A named contracted translator translates; a second person checks names against the passport, dates and numbers. Standard turnaround three business days; one business day for one or two standard pages.

4

Notary and delivery

We book the slot at the partner office where the translator is sworn. The translator signs before the notary; you pay the notary's receipt. We collect and deliver, or you collect from us.

What you send us

  • A clear scan or phone photo of every page (PDF, JPG, PNG, HEIC; up to 25 MB).
  • The name of the institution that will receive the translation — this decides whether a sworn stamp is enough or notarisation is required.
  • The exact Latin spelling of names as in the passport (we transliterate from Cyrillic or Arabic to match it, not to a dictionary).
  • If the original is a foreign public document: whether it already carries an apostille. Göç İdaresi, the trade registry and universities usually require one on the original before translation.

Documents we translate most

Passports and national IDs · birth, marriage and divorce certificates · diplomas and transcripts · criminal-record extracts · bank statements and employment letters · company registry extracts, articles of association and signature circulars · court decisions · medical reports (special-category data: separate consent required).

Timeline and what can go wrong

StageTypical time
Quote after receiving scansWithin 2 business hours
Translation and check, 1–4 pages1–2 business days
Notary slot at partner officeNext business day, subject to the notary
Delivery in İstanbulSame or next business day
  • Name mismatch. Your Turkish tax number or earlier permit used a different transliteration. We ask which spelling the institution holds and follow it.
  • Reverse side not sent. Soviet-era and many Arabic-language certificates carry stamps on the back that must be translated. Send both sides.
  • No apostille on the original. The notary will still certify the translation, but the institution may reject the set. We tell you before you spend money.
  • Altered or illegible originals. We do not translate what we cannot read or what appears altered.

Questions

Do I have to come to the notary myself?

For a translation certification the notary certifies the translator's signature, so in most partner offices the translator attends and you do not need to. You then pay the notary's receipt by card or cash at collection or by bank transfer to the notary. For signature certifications (imza onayı, harç ₺233.80 per signature), powers of attorney (vekaletname, harç ₺307.90 per signature) or anything you sign, you must attend in person with your passport.

Is ₺884 per page fixed?

The 2026 tariff items are fixed: certification ₺667.67, writing fee ₺80.68 and suret harcı ₺104.00 per page. Small items such as stamp paper may vary by a few lira; the notary's receipt is the final figure and you pay it to the notary.

Can a translation done abroad be notarised in Türkiye?

No. A Turkish notary certifies only translations made by a translator sworn in that notary's own office. A translation from abroad must be redone by a sworn translator here, or certified at a Turkish consulate abroad.

What goes wrong most often?

Name spellings that differ from the passport, missing apostille on the original foreign document, expired originals, and second pages (stamps, visas, reverse sides) that the institution needs but nobody translated. We check all four before translation starts.
