A POS terminal or virtual POS for your company: the application pack and the website the acquirer will check
Card acceptance in Türkiye is provided by banks and licensed payment institutions under Law 6493, supervised by the TCMB, and they underwrite each merchant: company documents, the business model, and — for virtual POS — the website itself. The site must carry the legal texts Turkish law requires of an online seller: identity and contact details, a pre-contract information form and a distance-sale contract under the Distance Contracts Regulation, a KVKK privacy notice, delivery and return terms, and registration in ETBİS, the Ministry of Trade's e-commerce information system. We prepare the merchant application pack, check the site against the acquirer's list and the regulation, draft the missing texts for your review, and track the application.
Price — one application, one acquirer
State fees and the notarial tariff are paid by you directly to the state or to the notary. We are not a notary and receive no remuneration from any notary, bank or lawyer.

Merchant pack and website checklist
| Block | Items |
|---|---|
| Company | Registry gazette, signature circular, tax plate, activity certificate (faaliyet belgesi), shareholder and UBO identification, last financials or SMMM letter for a new company |
| Business | Description of goods or services, expected monthly volume and average ticket, delivery model, refund policy, chargeback contact |
| Bank | Settlement account at the acquirer or another bank, IBAN letter |
| Website — identity | Legal name, MERSİS and tax number, address, phone, e-mail, KEP visible on the site |
| Website — contracts | Pre-contract information form and distance-sale contract shown before payment and approved by the buyer; order confirmation by e-mail |
| Website — data and security | KVKK privacy notice and explicit consent where needed, cookie notice, SSL on all pages, no card data stored on your server (acquirer's hosted page or tokenisation) |
| Website — registration | ETBİS registration confirmed; logo and link where the acquirer asks |
The texts we draft are templates filled with your facts for your review; they are not legal advice. For a complex model (subscriptions, marketplace, cross-border) have a lawyer review them.
How it works
Model and acquirer fit
What you sell, to whom, online or in person, volumes, where the goods ship from. We tell you which type of acquirer and product fits (bank POS, payment institution virtual POS, marketplace payout) and what each asks for.
Company pack
You receive the document list in the acquirer's order; we collect and index it with you. New companies get an SMMM letter instead of financials.
Website compliance
We check the site page by page against the Distance Contracts Regulation and the acquirer's checklist, send the missing texts as templates in Turkish for your review, and coach the ETBİS registration. Your developer places them; we re-check.
Application and activation
You sign and submit the merchant application; we track it, answer the acquirer's follow-up questions with you, and confirm activation and the settlement cycle in writing.
Typical cases
- Foreign-owned Ltd selling clothing online; needs virtual POS; site has no legal texts and is not in ETBİS.
- Café or clinic with foreign shareholders; physical POS; the bank wants shareholder identification and the lease.
- Software company selling subscriptions abroad; a payment institution rather than a bank, and the question of 3-D Secure and multi-currency settlement.
- Marketplace seller (Trendyol, Hepsiburada) who also wants an own-site checkout; two different document sets.
- Application refused once because the site stored card data; fix the integration, reapply.
What can go wrong
- Applying before the site is compliant. The acquirer's underwriter visits the site; a refusal is logged and the next application starts worse.
- Legal texts copied from another site. Wrong company name in the contract, wrong return period. The templates are filled with your facts.
- Missing ETBİS. Required for e-commerce sellers under Law 6563; acquirers check it.
- Unrealistic volume forecast. Too high invites a reserve or refusal; too low triggers a review when real volume arrives. State what you expect.
- Card data touching your server. Use the acquirer's hosted payment page or tokenisation; otherwise PCI obligations you do not want.
Questions
Bank or payment institution — which should we use?
Both are licensed under Law 6493 and supervised by the TCMB; the TCMB publishes the list of licensed institutions. Banks typically want a fuller company file and offer settlement to your account at the same bank; payment institutions onboard faster and specialise in e-commerce. We explain the differences on your facts; you choose.
Do you write the distance-sale contract?
We provide templates in Turkish aligned with the Distance Contracts Regulation, filled with your company's facts, for your review. They are documents, not legal advice; for a complex model have a lawyer you retain review them.
Can a company with a foreign director get a POS?
Yes, with the same documents plus identification of the foreign shareholders and director; some acquirers ask for the director's residence permit. We know which currently do and list them.
How long?
Document pack two to three days; website fixes depend on your developer; acquirer underwriting typically one to three weeks. Activation is the acquirer's decision.
