Who this is for

Founder moving to run the company

You will manage the Turkish entity on the ground and need to work, live and bank here legally, without the permit depending on five Turkish hires you do not yet have.

Shareholder-director who visits often

You spend months a year in Türkiye, sign for the company and need a status, an address and an account that do not raise questions at the bank or the border.

Owner planning to draw dividends abroad

Profit will leave Türkiye to you or your holding. You want the resolution, the withholding, the treaty certificate and the bank file consistent before the first transfer.

What you have at the end

At the end you hold a work permit issued to you as shareholder-director of your own company, serving as your residence permit for its duration, a registered address, a tax number, SGK registration at the permit salary, a personal bank account with online banking, a signed tax-residency self-certification backed by consistent documents, and a dividend file: resolution template, withholding and treaty position agreed with your SMMM, residence certificate route and bank list. Family files, if included, sit in the same indexed folder.

What is included

  • Shareholder-director eligibility check: shareholding, capital, company thresholds, salary multiple
  • Company readiness for filing: KEP, e-signature, SGK workplace file, e-Devlet access
  • Your document chain: passport, diploma, apostille, sworn translations, photographs
  • Complete e-İzin data pack and support while the company’s signatory files
  • Deficiency monitoring until the Ministry decides; permit serves as your residence permit
  • Address registration and tax number from the Revenue Administration
  • Personal bank account file: passport, tax number, address proof, purpose statement; branch accompaniment
  • Tax-residency and CRS self-certification file, consistent across bank and tax office
  • Dividend route file: resolution, withholding, treaty residence certificate, bank pack — with your SMMM
  • “+ family”: spouse and children residence files, school documents; one indexed folder

How the work runs

1

Week 1 · Position check

We confirm your shareholding and capital against the shareholder-director exemption, the company against its own thresholds, and the salary the permit will require. Your company is the employer; we map the route and the dates.

2

Weeks 2–4 · Documents and filing

KEP, e-signature and SGK workplace file verified on the company side; passport, diploma, apostille and sworn translations on yours. The e-İzin data pack is entered by the company’s signatory with us alongside.

3

Weeks 4–10 · Decision, arrival, address, tax number

The Ministry targets thirty days on a complete file; four to eight weeks is normal. On approval: address registration, tax number, SGK registration at the permit salary, mobile number.

4

Weeks 10–14 · Personal account and CRS

Bank file for two or three banks: passport, tax number, address proof, income and purpose statement in Turkish, self-certification prepared with your tax adviser. We book the branch and accompany you.

5

Weeks 14–16 · Dividend route and family

Resolution template, withholding and treaty position confirmed with your SMMM, residence-certificate request launched where a treaty applies, bank document list obtained in advance. Family residence files completed where included.

Questions

Can I get a work permit through my own company?

Yes. Your company is the employer and files on e-İzin. As checked on 24.10.2026, a foreign shareholder holding at least 20% of the shares and at least ₺40,000 of capital is exempt from the five-Turkish-employees rule; the company must still meet its capital or turnover threshold and pay you the salary multiple for the position through SGK.

Do I need a residence permit as well?

No. A valid work permit counts as a residence permit for its duration; you register your address and report changes. Before the permit is issued you can already obtain a tax number from the Revenue Administration with your passport, and some banks open a limited account on that basis; whether they do is the bank’s decision.

How are dividends paid abroad?

The shareholders decide the distribution; withholding is deducted when the dividend is paid or credited. The domestic rate is 15% under Presidential Decision No. 9286, in force since 22 December 2024 and unchanged as of 05.11.2026; a treaty may lower it if a residence certificate is obtained before payment. The return is filed by the 26th of the next month; the bank then reviews the transfer.

Will I become a Turkish tax resident?

Article 3 of the Income Tax Law treats as resident anyone settled in Türkiye or staying more than six months in a calendar year; a resident is taxed on worldwide income. The bank collects a CRS self-certification and reports to your country of residence. The tax authority and your adviser decide your status; we build the file that supports it.
